How it works

Choose, drop or paste an image. The generator draws each favicon size on a canvas in your browser -- shrinking large images in several smooth steps so tiny icons stay sharp -- then encodes PNG files and a multi-size favicon.ico with PNG images inside, which every modern browser supports. Pick whether to fit the whole image or fill and crop to a square, keep a transparent background or use a solid color, and add padding if your logo touches the edges. Preview every size, then download them individually or as one ZIP with a web manifest and ready-to-paste HTML. Nothing is uploaded.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Your image is processed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. It is never uploaded, stored, or included in analytics, and there is no sign-up.

Which files do I get?

A multi-size favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px), PNG favicons at 16, 32 and 48 px, a 180 px apple-touch-icon for iPhones and iPads, 192 and 512 px icons for Android and web apps, a site.webmanifest file and the HTML tags to add to your site. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Does it keep transparency?

Yes. With the Transparent background option, transparent areas of a PNG, WebP, GIF or SVG stay transparent in every PNG and in favicon.ico. JPG images have no transparency. Apple devices show transparent apple-touch-icons on a black background, so a solid background color is often better for that icon.

What image works best?

A square image of at least 512 × 512 px with a simple shape and strong contrast. Fine detail and small text disappear at 16 × 16 px, so a bold logo mark or single letter usually looks best.

How do I add the favicon to my website?

Upload the files to the root folder of your website, then paste the HTML snippet into the <head> section of your pages. Browsers may cache old favicons, so a hard refresh may be needed to see the new one.

Make sure you have the right to use any logo or image you turn into a favicon. More creator utilities are in our Creator Tools. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for more detail.
