Text Sorter
Sort any list alphabetically (A-Z or Z-A) or numerically, with natural sorting so "item2" comes before "item10". Remove duplicates and handle blank lines your way. Your text never leaves your browser.
How it works
Paste your list with one item per line and choose a sort order. A-Z and Z-A use natural, language-aware sorting; the Numbers modes sort by the number at the start of each line. You can remove duplicates, make sorting case-sensitive, and choose whether blank lines are removed or kept at the end. The result updates instantly. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Is my text sent to any server?
No. The text sorter runs entirely in your browser. The text you type or paste is never uploaded, stored, or included in analytics. We do not require sign-up or login.
How does numeric sorting work?
In the Numbers modes, lines that start with a number are sorted by that number -- including negatives, decimals and comma-separated values like 1,200. Lines that do not start with a number are placed after them, in alphabetical order.
Why does item2 come before item10 in A-Z mode?
The sorter uses natural sorting, which compares numbers inside text by their value rather than digit by digit, so lists like file names and chapter numbers come out in the order you would expect.
What does case-sensitive do?
With it off, "apple" and "Apple" are treated as the same word when sorting and when removing duplicates. With it on, uppercase and lowercase are treated as different, and uppercase comes first.
